How is TNO pensionfund doing?

Suzanne van Kooten, Director of the TNO pensionfund, shares her views on recent developments. What stood out and what it means for our pensionfund.
Dear reader,
2025 was an intense year and 2026 is just getting started! Our sight is now fully set on the transition to the new pension scheme in as of 1 July 2026. But before that happens, the board will review in January whether the policy funding ratio (127.6% as at 30 November 2025) gives reason to increase the pensions.
Webinar new pension scheme
We organised another successful webinar in early 2025 to keep everyone informed. Together with my colleague Hans Veltman and Board Chair Nancy Westerlaken, I updated everyone on developments relating to the implementation of the new pension scheme. You can still watch the webinar on our website. A new webinar is scheduled this coming spring.

DNB question rounds
For example, the previous webinar covered among other things the progress of the implementation plan that is currently with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) for review. In the meantime, we have completed several rounds of questions with DNB and were able to properly answer their questions. We aim to receive approval from The DNB regarding the transfer of the accrued pension entitlements at the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter of 2026. Following approval, participants will be informed – expected in May 2026 – with an initial personal estimate. A second personal calculation will follow at the end of 2026.
Data quality
This edition of Life & Pension contains additional information about this in the ‘New pension scheme update’ section. A topic that is also important during this transition is data quality. In this edition, Board member Murielle van Geijn-Lodder explains why this is so important. It also addresses how your (accrued) pension will be impacted when the new pension scheme takes effect in the near future. In addition, the changes to our supplementary pension schemes are also covered here.
In short, once again there is plenty to read in this edition of Life & Pension. Enjoy your reading!

Director
